A new GlowUp experience is on its way. The App Store may still show our earlier 28-day fitness edition until the update is released.

When irritability arrives before the words do

Sometimes the reaction is already in the room before you understand what it is protecting.

In brief

In brief

The sound is too loud. The question is one question too many. Someone you love asks what is wrong and the only available answer is sharper than the truth. Mood changes and irritability can occur around this stage, and poor sleep or relentless stress can lower the threshold further. Understanding that context is not the same as excusing harm. It gives you somewhere useful to intervene.

Try to notice the earliest physical signal: jaw tight, chest hot, thoughts speeding, shoulders raised. That is the moment to buy time. Say, ‘I am overloaded and I want to answer this better. Give me ten minutes.’ Then step away, cool down, eat, breathe or reduce noise. Return and repair what needs repairing without turning the whole episode into proof that you are a bad person.
