A new GlowUp experience is on its way. The App Store may still show our earlier 28-day fitness edition until the update is released.

The grief nobody warned you might feel

A natural transition can still carry loss, especially when nobody around you names it.

In brief

In brief

You may grieve fertility even if you never wanted another child. You may grieve predictability, sleep, sexual ease, the face or body you recognised, or simply the version of adulthood you thought you would inhabit. None of this means you reject ageing or fail to appreciate your life. More than one truth can be present: relief and sadness, freedom and anger, confidence and vulnerability.

Grief becomes harder when it has no recognised event. There may be no ceremony, no leave from work and no obvious person to tell. Give the change a private form if that helps: write what you are leaving, what remains, and what you want to carry forward. This is not about forcing a positive reinvention. It is permission to acknowledge a threshold.
